ELODIE

Meet ELODIE SAINT-SAUVEUR … Le nouvel intérêt d’amour de Centori … in Adobe Centori and the Silver Medallion

Born in the fashionable 7th Arrondissement of Paris, Elodie Saint-Sauveuris a child of affluent parents. She is well bred with savior faire. Educated in the fine arts, with expertise in art history, she graduated from École des Beaux-Arts, an influential Paris art school. Before the Great War, she worked at the Musee des Beaux-Arts as an art historian. Elodie has expertise as an archivist and curator. She is a highly capable keeper of French cultural heritage in painting and sculpture.

Uncharacteristically, Elodie volunteered to be part of the Great War, part of the exhausting, dangerous and stressful hospital work. Nurses deal with the terrible demands of battle. Wounded men arrive at all times. Nurses stay on their feet for an entire shift, which can be a grueling twelve hours—and stay close to the wounded during air raids. Many nurses feel isolated as No. 8, surrounded by gray stone walls, is located away from other units and from the town.

Despite the extreme hardships, the nurses are the face of the hospitals. Given the level of care administered, many soldiers say a nurse saved them. Although Nurse Saint-Sauveur suffers the harsh conditions, she is somewhat different from the other nurses. As part of the bourgeoisie, her family is financially successful. Centori is not among those who would criticize the bourgeoisie—and is certainly unlikely to find fault in her. Elodie Saint-Sauveur has resisted the touch of a man; she is single, independent and outwardly content.
